CFC’s Outdoor Adventure Wellness Challenge Enjoys Its Time In The Sun
Spending time outdoors can offer massive perks not only for our bodies, but for our minds. That’s the timeless truth and inspiration behind CFC’s Outdoor Adventure Wellness Challenge. From reducing stress and improving sleep quality to encouraging physical activity and increasing our ability to focus, getting outside regularly can provide countless wellness benefits.
CFC has held the popular challenge each summer since 2021 to encourage everyone on our team to get outside, move their bodies, explore, and make lasting memories. Summer 2023 was the challenge’s third year. “The challenge is a fun opportunity for employees to share their summer activities and adventures – to show what they’re doing, see what others are up to, and maybe win a prize,” said CFC HR Generalist Tereza Cooper. “I often hear employees talking about the photos after I send out the weekly announcements. I love that it sparks conversations and gives everyone a glimpse into people’s lives outside of work.”
Every CFC employee is invited to submit photos of their outdoor adventures for weekly prize drawings (one entry per drawing). Any physical activity qualifies, provided it takes place outdoors: gardening, hiking, running, climbing, rafting, camping, cycling, boating, walking, horseback riding, or whatever else. During 2023’s challenge, CFC received anywhere from three to ten photo submissions each week. Weekly drawing winners received $50 gift cards (choice of Cabela’s, REI, Dick’s Sporting Goods, or Target), and one lucky grand prize drawing winner won a $350 Southwest Airlines voucher to help them continue their outdoor adventures.
CFC’s 2023 grand prize drawing winner was Justin Loreth, whose high-climbing photos of Grays Peak, Owl Creek Pass, and Red Cone Peak (see above) kept us inspired all summer long. Other weekly drawing winners included (see representative photos throughout):
- Wil Shrad – Exploring Arizona’s otherworldly Havasupai Falls.
- Jesus “Chuy” Navarro – Hiking with his family in Salida, Colorado.
- Alex Pacheco – Touring NorCal, from the wineries of Napa to the Golden Gate Bridge.
- Ashleigh Valorz – Gardening at home with her dog.
- Michael Alboini – Backpacking and fishing in Colorado’s Lost Creek Wilderness.
- Dan Brown – Climbing the Tiers of Zion in Golden, Colorado.
CFC will hold the Outdoor Adventure Wellness Challenge again in 2024 – starting in early July, running for nine weeks, and concluding with Labor Day weekend. While specific prizes haven’t been announced yet, they’re likely to be similar to previous years’. We look forward to sharing in our team members’ adventures once again this summer!
