CFC’s Annual Food, Clothing, Hygiene & Toy Drives Seek Donations
Annually, the holiday season is an opportunity to look around and be thankful for all that we are fortunate to have. But it’s true that some are more fortunate than others – which is why CFC’s people take the time to offer help where they can, daily living our values and participating in charitable giving efforts year-round. Case in point: CFC’s Fall Food & Clothing Drive, happening now at job sites near you!
Since 2016, CFC has sponsored an annual food, clothing, and hygiene drive for the Denver Rescue Mission, a local charitable organization focused on meeting the needs of those experiencing poverty and homelessness since 1892. The effort was begun by a CFC employee whose friend worked at the mission. Though that employee has since moved on, the CFC Charitable Giving Group has been honored to uphold the tradition.
Donations will be accepted through November 18, when boxes will be collected for delivery to the Denver Rescue Mission in advance of Thanksgiving. CFC employees and trade partners are welcomed to place donations in the labeled boxes located at every CFC job site and CFC’s corporate offices in Golden. The group is currently accepting non-perishable food items; new or gently used men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing that is clean and in good condition; and in-demand hygiene items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving cream, disposable razors, and bars of soap. Needed food items include canned fruits, vegetables, and soups; peanut butter; pasta, rice, and macaroni and cheese; oatmeal; and pancake and stuffing mix. (Each year, CFC reaches out to the mission to ask which items are most needed.)
The CFC Charitable Giving Group proudly spearheads three different drives annually. Beyond November’s effort for the Denver Rescue Mission, the group also participates in the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver’s “Together 4 Colorado Toy Drive” each December (more on that below) and Denver Human Services’ Annual “Spring Showers Hygiene Drive” every May.
CFC Chief Estimator Tyler Laib, who teams with CFC Estimator Aimee Bassett to lead the drives, says, “We’re humbled by – and grateful for – these continued opportunities to work together with amazing local organizations to support our community, both during the holidays and beyond.”
If you missed out on participating in CFC’s Food & Clothing Drive, don’t worry: CFC’s Annual Toy Drive is right around the corner. Each year, the Toy Drive – for which the Boys & Girls Clubs partners with CBS4, King Soopers, and 97.3 KBCO – runs from the last week of November onward. The program’s worthy goal is to ensure that every child and teen served by the clubs is able to open a holiday gift. CFC begins collecting toys and donations from approximately December 1-17, delivering them to the organization the week before Christmas.
To support CFC’s Annual Holiday Toy Drive, CFC employees and trade partners are encouraged to consider donating a new and unwrapped gift from the clubs’ Holiday Wish List, or to offer a cash, check, or Venmo donation toward the effort. (The CFC Charitable Giving Group will send out an email to all CFC employees prior to kickoff detailing the donation options and protocols.) CFC leadership matches all employee cash donations up to $5,000! Gift-wrapped donation boxes will be delivered to CFC’s Golden HQ and every CFC jobsite at the beginning of December. Please look for the boxes and flyers, and consider donating if you can.
We’re proud to share that CFC’s spirit of community giving has been alive and well in past years. We’re continually blown away by the generosity of our employees and trade partners. Over the past two years, CFC has collected nearly $17,000 in monetary donations for the Toy Drive. And the gifts of toys have been incredibly generous: The photos below (from 2020’s drive) nearly filled the entire precon wing with toys! How about we do it again this year?
