Josh Thall

Director of Procurement
Josh Thall

Josh is a proven leader with more than 20 years of experience in both construction and development across hospitality, multifamily, commercial, industrial, healthcare, and beyond. With his ability to understand perspectives from both sides of the table, Josh capably bridges the gap between business development, preconstruction, and operations, helping to ensure that CFC’s bidding and planning activities are in alignment with how each project will be bought, staffed, and built. He also oversees CFC’s Preconstruction and Estimating departments and is a LEED Accredited Professional certified by the US Green Building Council, an AHA/ASHE Certified Healthcare Constructor, and Licensed General Contractor in Colorado.

Josh’s clients and colleagues appreciate his integrity, honesty, directness, excellent listening skills, and passion for mentoring and upleveling his teams. He is able to make decisions quickly while remaining open to creative solutions, helping to eliminate roadblocks and set teams and projects up for success. Josh is a collaborative leader who truly believes that he works for his teams, rather than the other way around.

Professional and Educational Background

A life-long “Lego kid,” Josh always loved to build. In fact, construction was in his blood: His grandfather and great-grandfather were engineers in the US Army Corps of Engineers and Tennessee Valley Authority. But Josh didn’t learn that until he was earning his BS in Conservation Biology from the University of California, and it wasn’t until he gained exposure to construction working at a Superfund site in Colorado that he clearly saw his own future in the sector. After earning his Professional Certification in Construction Management from Colorado State University, Josh gained experience working with a range of leading general contracting firms in Colorado. As a project engineer, superintendent, senior project manager, preconstruction manager, senior construction manager, and more, he has worn nearly every hat in the business. After a post-COVID downturn in commercial construction led to downsizing at Josh’s organization, he embraced the opportunity to spend two years at a Texas-based developer focused on expanding its self-perform multifamily footprint in Colorado. When the company changed direction, however, reducing Josh’s ability to have a significant impact on his projects and teams, he made a conscious decision to return to the construction side of the business. He is excited to help lead CFC’s next phase of growth.

What Josh Values Most About Working at CFC

Josh appreciates the incredible quality of CFC’s people, who reliably bring a strong work ethic, commitment to quality, and drive to be Colorado’s premier contractor. Josh also values how CFC’s commitment to investing in its people and building its next-generation leadership offers him the ongoing opportunity to grow and mature in his career. Says Josh, “CFC isn’t just looking to fill positions. They’re looking for the company’s future leaders, which means that each position genuinely provides the opportunity for the next one. They always strive to give the right people the right opportunities at the right times.”

Beyond Building

After living in New York state until the age of ten, Josh and his family relocated to Southern California, where Josh remained through college. But he has now lived in Colorado longer than he’s lived anywhere else, and can’t imagine anywhere else he’d prefer to call home. In his free time, Josh – who admits he’s not great at sitting still – is constantly busy playing hockey, doing projects around the house, and spending time with his two school-aged kids, who are both active in sports and the arts. He and his family are also enthusiastic international travelers, spending time in Canada, Central America, and beyond.
